This is one of the houses that was on my childhood street. I started with the structure of the house and continued on to the landscaping. The house is made up of various shades of brown. I did not run into trouble until it came to the windows. On one side of the house I decided to do the windows in black which ended up being a mistake. Then I had to water down the windows and lift the color up. That ended up not working so I had to mix the color I wanted with white acrylic to go over and fix it. The shrubbery was a huge challenge to me because I've never done anything like that in watercolor before. I had to look at several tutorials before I could move forward with the landscaping. I used a flat brush for the bushes and the trees to create texture. My favorite aspect of this piece is the brick because it is made up of so many colors and it was also very simple to do. I put different colors on my flat brush and moved it slightly to create a brick effect. Overall this piece was a little challenging and it took a significant amount of time but I am very happy the way it turned out.
