Both of these apples were my practice runs with oil paints. I was very intimidated at first but eventually came to like them. I painted the first apple with oil paint brushes. I already started liking oils with the first one because the colors were vibrant and were easier to blend. The second apple was painted with a palette knife. At first the idea of painting with a palette knife sounded very challenging but I discovered that I liked it more than using brushes. The only downside to using the palette knife is that you have to use a lot of paint. I am happy with these test runs and I hope to use oil paints again because they are beautiful to work with and really capture and enrich the colors.
