I chose my clay heart for this project because it would have been fun to break and a good idea. The underlining meaning is how instantly a heart can break. The hammer breaks it as fast as someone's heart could break and how hard it would be to put back together.
For my art piece I was inspired by the piece "American Flamingo" by John James Audubon. His piece has a flamingo in the front and several others in the distance. The placement of the birds and the eye catching color of them caught my attention. The birds reminded me of ballerinas. The bending of the birds reminded me of dancing and the gracefulness of ballerinas. Also the pink reminded me of their outfits when they preform and the feathers resemble tutus. I decided to print out references of ballet dancers for the figures that would be in my art piece. I chose ones in various positions but one was similar to the flamingo in the front of his art piece. For their outfits I tried certain color combinations of purple and pinks. I placed one ballet dancer in the front and the rest in the background in graceful positions. I am proud of my work and I am happy that my piece was able to blossom off of "American Flamingo". |
