Over the summer we were given several ideas for art pieces and were told to choose four. One I chose was the scene of drawing an object submerged in water and being able to capture the distortion of the object. I chose half of a geode to use for my object because it would be an interesting thing to do. The container I used was a fishbowl because it has a different shape than just a regular container. The medium I used was regular graphite pencil, which allowed me to capture the shadows and highlights. Pencil is one of my favorite mediums because it is easy to use and allows you to show more detail. In my opinion the distortion in this piece is easily shown because the geode is blown up and larger in the water and it is in a total different size above the water line. I am happy with the outcome of this piece because it turned out better than I expected. The only challenging part was capturing the reflection on the ground because it was the same as the real image but less detail.
